Particle size analysis system

The new range of CPS Disc Centrifuges for particle size analysis consists of 4 models for use with various materials. These include polymer latexes (aqueous) with any particle density, emulsions of oils and waxes, titanium dioxide, photographic emulsions, abrasives, food ingredients and inorganic fillers and pigments.

The disc centrifuge separates particles in the size range of 0.01 micron to 50 microns using centrifugal sedimentation in a liquid medium.

When particles approach the outside edge of the rotating disc, they block or scatter a portion of a light beam that passes through the disc. The change in light intensity is continuously recorded by operating software into a particle size distribution.

This methods ensures a high resolution, compared to methods based on light scattering or particle counting, and measures to a very high sensitivity with a minimum detection limit below 10-8 gram active sample for narrow peaks.

The CPS is available in four models dependent on the minimum particle size.

The DC12000 with a maximum disc speed of 12,000 RPM is suitable for larger minimum particle size. Model DC18000 and DC20000 (18,000 or 20,000 RPM) is ideal for smaller minimum particle size, while the Model C24000 (24,000 RPM) is suitable for the smallest minimum particle size.

All models are supplied with graphical operating software with simple point-and-click commands, including centrifuge speed.

Options include a computer system, solvent resistant disc for use with most non-aqueous solvents, automatic sample injection system and discs for low density and for speed ramping.
