broad selectivity and high loading capacity of csps

Over the past 20 years the interest in developing more and more single enantiomeric drugs has grown tremendously since it has been demonstrated that the stereochemistry of such active substances is one of the major factors determining their bioactivity.

A large number of drugs are more effective as a single enantiomers. Chromatographic resolution technology is now recognised as the fastest, most expedient process for isolating single-enantiomer compounds not only for research purposes and in the early development stages but also at the industrial and commercial scale.

To date, more than 100 chiral stationary phases (CSPs) are commercially available. Among these CSPs, DAICEL CSPs based on polysaccharides have been shown to give the best performance due to their broad selectivity, good durability and especially high loading capacity.

All in all, the DAICEL group has identified separation methods for more than 2000 racemates for customers throughout the world.

Using DAICEL CSPs, more than 90 per cent of all racemic samples are resolved when analysed in our application laboratories. To select the right column, our team of chromatographers combines experience with experimentation.

The complexity of the interactions involved in the chiral recognition mechanisms make predictions still very difficult. However, statistics have shown that more than 75 per cent of the compounds submitted to our laboratories are separated using our four most versatile columns.

These four columns, CHIRALPAK AD, AS and CHIRALCEL OD, OJ are singled out to be the four atop performer' columns.

Chiral Tool, a statistical tool for chiral separations on DAICEL columns, is a joint project of Chiral Technologies Europe and ChirBase. Chiral Tool is generated from ChirBase database that includes more than 20 000 entries of published separations involving DAICEL columns.

The aim of Chiral Tool is to provide statistical information about the chemical features associated with the compounds analysed on DAICEL chiral columns. This program can be of help for selecting a column, but is not a standalone column prediction system. u
