Luso Electronics announces the availability of bespoke high-voltage power solutions for UK and European customers seeking to develop highly miniaturised scientific equipment, such as mass spectrometers for use in laboratories and medical centres. Through its partnership with US based HVM Technology, Luso already distributes standard and customised military grade high-voltage power converters and compact power supplies for night vision applications.

The use of rigid, high-resistivity materials allow creepage and clearance distances to be significantly reduced compared to un-encapsulated assemblies, keeping sensitive circuitry and users safe in the process. However as these processes do not allow rework, extra care has to be taken to identify any latent defects prior to its application. Ultra-compact high-voltage design also calls for highly developed cleaning techniques capable of purging even the minutest conductive particles such as soldering residues before encapsulation takes place.
HVM Technology has its own in-house transformer design and manufacturing capability. The transformer is the single most critical component to meet size and performance requirements, and delivers the best results when tailored to meet the exact needs of the target application. The ability to build custom transformers to high quality standards delivers a major contribution towards delivering products that are smaller, better performing, and exactly fit customers' needs.
While custom miniaturised high-voltage power supplies are a forte, OEMs can also use standard modules from the HVM Technology portfolio. Among the standard ranges available are two ultra-compact DC-DC converter families that give customers the choice of designing their own feedback loop for optimum regulation and transient response, or choosing a fully integrated turnkey module up to an output voltage of 10kV.
