Cutting trans fatty-acids

Trans fatty-acids are often, and rightly, considered as being harmful for health. They increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and the bad cholesterol generated by these trans fatty-acids gradually agglomerates on the sides of the veins and arteries therefore results in a deterioration of the blood circulation.

A few years ago, Aigremont, a Belgian company which mainly manufactures cooking and table margarines, blends margarine-butter, oils and fats, decided to reduce the use of hydrogenated and trans fats in its products.

Today, after years of technological investments and researches in this specific matter, and after a succession of improvements on production lines, Aigremont has become probably the first margarine factory that is able to produce all its vegetable margarines without using hydrogenated fats and with a global trans ratio beneath 1g per 100g of fat.
