Laser excitation source

Following on from the success of the TTP LabTech 488nm Acumen Explorer, the company has now launched a new model with a single violet (405nm) laser excitation source.

The Acumen Explorer 405nm model enables the b-and blue fluorescent protein reporter systems which, until now, have routinely been measured by bulk fluorescence readers as single point readouts.

In contrast, Acumen Explorer offers multi-parametric analysis at high throughput allowing rapid, high content assays.

By fully exploiting the ratiometric detection of fluorescent enzyme substrates on a cell-by-cell basis, Acumen Explorer 405 provides greater assay sensitivity on plate formats ranging from 96 to the 1536 and 3456 microplates used in uHTS.

In addition, Acumen Explorer 405 offers enhanced compatibility with quantum dots as it increases the intensity of fluorescent emission by up to four-fold compared to its sister instrument.

Use of quantum dots expands the multiplexing capability of the Acumen Explorer, particularly in immunological detection methodologies.
