Microplate adhesive film seals

(Editor's Note: Scientist Live is launching a new, interactive feature, The Scientist Audio Mailbag. Here's how it works: Each week, we select a current news item and then arrange an interview with the researcher involved in the study. Scientist Live readers will be allowed to mail in questions to be presented to the scientist. The editors will then select a handful and pose them to the researcher. You will be able to hear their answers in their own words. Our first Mailbag deals with a promising new anti-HIV gel. Join the discussion now.)

Porvair Sciences Ltd has introduced Pattern Adhesive Films - a new range of high integrity seals for 96- and 384-well microplates.

The new films have adhesive printed in a "pattern" to exactly match the shape of the microplate wells. Consequently, no adhesive comes into contact with your samples or solvent. Unlike traditional adhesive seals, piercing a Pattern Adhesive Film with a single or multichannel pipettor or robotic probe does not risk contaminating your sample with residual adhesive.

Manufactured from 50µm thick PTFE film - Adhesive Pattern Films are tough, yet easily pierced and offer excellent optical reading properties. Adhesive Pattern Films are also extremely versatile offering secure sample protection from -80C to +120C. Patterns are available to exactly fit 96-round, 96-square and 384-square well plates. For long-term storage applications, durable 100µm polypropylene adhesive pattern films are available in the same formats.

Established in 1992, Porvair Sciences Ltd. has developed internationally recognised expertise in microplate technology and manufacturing serving applications in Drug Discovery, Combinatorial Chemistry, Solid Phase Extraction, Protein Purification, High Throughput Screening, Environmental Analysis, Proteomics and Genomics. Porvair Sciences Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Porvair plc.
