The lab technology innovator revealed the compact device for continuous monitoring of preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) purification
Lab technology innovator Testa Analytical Solutions has revealed the prep flowmeter, a compact device for continuous monitoring of preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) purification.
"Preparative liquid chromatography is a trusted method for applications including purification of chiral drugs, fingerprinting of peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides, and purification of fine chemicals,” said Carlo Dessy, managing director of Testa Analytical.
“Capable of precise monitoring of liquid flow rates of up to 650ml per minute in real time, our new prep flowmeter is an ideal tool for monitoring preparative scale chromatography systems to help improve fraction purity and yields."
A flowmeter often necessary due to the use of fraction collectors with preparative liquid chromatography systems. The collection of different fractions is usually driven by volume measurement.
Being able to precisely measure the flow rate can improve the purity of separated compounds and optimise the overall collection process.
While the prep flowmeter is a PC-based app, its communications data buffering ensures that if the device loses connection, the data from its continuous recording will not be lost. The prep flowmeter powers itself from a USB connection and uses a non-invasive, high-resolution sensor.
It is also possible to use the prep flowmeter for periodic performance evaluation and troubleshooting with a preparative liquid chromatography system.
