New gas chromatograph offers improvements

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has released the Nexis GC-2060 gas chromatograph, designed to maximise uptime, streamline workflows and improve laboratory efficiency.

The chromatograph is suitable for a range of applications, including pharmaceuticals, energy, chemicals, environmental testing and food.

The multi-mode flame ionisation detector (FID)features sensitivity enhanced by about 20% over previous models, with a minimum detection limit of 1pgC/sec. It is equipped with Hy/Ox and Hy/Air modes for a more flexible selection of detector gases.

A redesigned thermal conductivity detector also (TCD) offers a 25% improved detection and a minimum detectable quantity of 300pg/mL. The TCD uses single-filament technology to reduce start-up time, and stabilises quickly to deliver accurate repeatable results for gas and inorganic analyses.

The Nexis GC-2060 MMI’s multimode injection unit has five distinct injection modes that allow a single GC to accommodate a variety of analytical needs. It supports split/splitless, programmable temperature vaporisation, direct injection, large-volume injection and thermal desorption/extraction injections in a single module.

Automatic eco-operation learns analytical patterns from operating history to perform more optimal, sustainable operations. The system automatically switches to energy-saving mode during standby.

Operators can install an increased number of pretreatment units, sample injection ports and detectors, supporting diverse needs such as parallel operation with dual-line analysis using the same setup, multi-application coverage with a single GC and high-speed analysis.

One-touch injection unit access, tool-free column installation and automated startup, shutdown and column conditioning simplify operation.

Late last year, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments launched the i-Series LC-2070/LC-2080.
