The tool uses algorithms to detect batch differences in minutes
SepSolve Analytical, a supplier of gas chromatography (GC) equipment, has launched a tool to compare chromatographic data more quickly and easily.
The tool called Smart Subtract uses advanced statistical algorithms to detect differences between batches within minutes.
“With Smart Subtract, we're removing the bottlenecks in chromatographic data processing, giving analysts a faster, more efficient way to compare samples with confidence,” said SepSolve Analytical product marketing manager Dr Laura McGregor.
It could take days or weeks to use traditional GC–MS and GC×GC–MS data comparison methods.
Smart Subtract supports a variety of applications, such as the fast detection of contaminants, odours in recycled materials and minute variations in fragrance formulations.
The technology generates a subtracted chromatogram that retains spectral information, automating the identification of key differences in chromatic data. This allows analysts to determine findings without learning the complex statistical methods behind the comparison.
In addition to identifying differences, analysts can also easily visualise and communicate findings to non-chemists and stakeholders.
Smart Subtract supports a range of file formats for both 1D and 2D GC–MS for easy integration into existing laboratory systems.
In January, SepSolve Analytical introduced updates to its BenchTOF2 time-of-flight mass spectrometer, which can be combined with the company’s range of GCxGC modulators.
