EIT Los Angeles is using the LIMS to streamline complex laboratory operations and enhance collaboration
The science-aware lab informatics platform Sapio Sciences is being used to accelerate cancer research by Ellison Institute of Technology Los Angeles (EIT Los Angeles).
The cancer research centre has used Sapio Sciences’ laboratory information management system (LIMS) to streamline complex research operations. This enhancement in research capabilities is useful across biology, physics, mathematics and engineering operations.
"Given the scope and diversity of projects we undertake, tracking and documentation can be overwhelming, said Roi Bagsic, a quality control analyst at EIT Los Angeles. “The easy customisation and quick adaptability of the platform for different projects and scenarios gave me confidence that it could do whatever we needed."
Since employing the platform, EIT Los Angeles has centralised sample management, improved data integrity and increased efficiency across its DNA sequencing.
It has also simplified key processes, such as the standardisation of data collection and documentation for DNA extraction, sequencing and tissue processing.
“The flexibility of Sapio’s platform, particularly its no-code configuration and API-driven architecture, has allowed EIT Los Angeles to improve and expand its research capabilities continuously,” said Mike McCartney, the chief commercial officer at Sapio Sciences. “As a result, the institute is well-positioned to scale its operations and further its mission of developing transformative solutions in cancer research, healthcare, and beyond.”
The integrated data from microscopy experiments encourages enhanced data analysis, while the customisable platform produce personalised dashboards, allowing organisations to collaborate easily across teams.

Earlier this year, Sapio Sciences added enhancements to its AI-powered lab assistant Sapio ElaiN, increasing efficiency and streamlining research processes. It also unveiled the Sapio GMP LIMS for laboratories that require flexibility to meet manufacturing compliance requirements.
