Partnership to develop intranasal delivery platform

The delivery device is designed to target specific nasal cavity regions

CDMO Kindeva has partnered with technology healthcare company Rocket Science Health (RSH) to develop an intranasal delivery platform.

The RSH olfactory delivery device is a dual nostril intranasal platform designed to target specific regions of the nasal cavity, depositing the majority of a drug dose into the olfactory clefts.

“Knowing subregions of the nasal cavity provide access to different organ systems, most notably the CNS via the Olfactory Clefts, we redesigned the fluidics and user experience to enable precise, targeted delivery,” said RSH founder and CEO Kenneth Irving.

“Now, we are ready to bring this technology into clinical trials for advancing dose dependent medicine.”

While the olfactory clefts are a desirable target from drug deposition, they are traditionally a difficult location to reach.

So far, research shows the device has the potential to achieve high deposition by ejecting a laminar stream, as opposed to a plume spray or mist found in conventional intranasal treatments.

The device dispensing tips extend beyond the nasal valve to achieve a better vantage point, further overcoming the complex nasal anatomy that makes the olfactory clefts difficult to reach.
