The companies are combining technologies to support predictive decision-making
InSphero AG, specialist in 3D cell-based assays and organ-on-chip-systems, has partnered with pathology company PharmaNest to advance translational fibrosis research.
“Liver spheroids recapitulate excessive and self-sustaining fibrogenesis in a miniaturised, human-relevant system,” said PharmaNest CEO Mathieu Petitjean.
“Integration of the PharmaNest single-fibre digital pathology platform enables quantitative, phenotype-resolved assessment of fibrosis in spheroids and direct alignment with human biopsy–derived fibrosis signatures, providing a uniquely translatable measure of antifibrotic therapeutic efficacy.”
The collaboration combines InSphero’s advanced 3D spheroid models with PharmaNest’s high resolution, single-fibre digital pathology. This combination supports AI-assisted precise phenotyping of fibrosis severity, remodelling for liver fibrosis in metabolic-dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and other fibrotic 3D in-vitro models.
The collaboration intends to assist pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic users seeking to implement testing with scalable, human-relevant models that deliver robust, predictive data for decision-making.
