The two companies are combining technologies to improve flexibility and scalability
Biotechnology company Semarion has collaborated with automated laboratory instrument developer SPT Labtech to advance automated cell-based assay workflows.

Smarion, which combines materials engineering and cell biology to advance drug screening, will use its SemaCyte technology during the partnership. SemaCyte is a microcarrier technology that leverages materials physics to move and freeze cells while retaining their adherent morphology.
SemaCyte will integrate SPT Labtech’s Firefly platform, an automated liquid handling platform that streamlines next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.
The combination of the tech technologies is designed to support flexibility and scalability, enabling researchers to adapt workflows to their specific applications. The partnership also aims to overcome challenges the automation and miniaturisation challenges of complex cell biology processes.
