mIRage-IR microscope system launched

The microscope system delivers submicron IR spectroscopy and chemical imaging

Scientific equipment supplier Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp has launched the reflection-mode microscope system mIRage-IR, which supports a range of research areas, including pharmaceutical powders and small molecules.

The microscope system is designed to deliver submicron IR spectroscopy and chemical imaging using Optical Photothermal IR (O-PTIR) technology in a configuration that is competitive with traditional FTIR and QCL microscopes.

The mIRage-IR operates in non-contact reflection mode and leverages O-PTIR to deliver submicron spatial resolution. It eliminates the need for ATR contact pressure, with spectra that are free of dispersive scattering artifacts while providing compatibility with existing FTIR spectral libraries.

The elimination of ATR contact pressure makes the mIRage-IR suitable for studying irregular, fragile or difficult-to-handle samples.

The mIRage-IR integrates with featurefindIR, a tool that automates the detection, measurement and chemical identification of particles ranging from submicron to millimetre scale.

FeaturefindIR automation streamlines analysis of microplastics, pharmaceutical powders and failure analysis samples, overcoming the limitations of traditional IR and Raman systems.

Both standard glass slides and non-coated filters such as polycarbonate and nitrocellulose can be used with the mIRage-IR.
