Lab Innovations 2026, the UK’s largest laboratory industry trade show, will once again be co-located with Advanced Engineering, the UK’s annual gathering of engineering and manufacturing professionals.
The two events will also, for the first time, be joined by UK Metals Expo, bringing the metals supply chain to the events and creating a broader meeting point for science, engineering, and manufacturing.
Held at the NEC, Birmingham, on November 4 and 5, 2026, the joint events will create a unique cross-sector platform designed to drive innovation and foster collaboration across disciplines.
The UK’s ability to convert scientific discovery into industrial value remains a priority as the country’s Modern Industrial Strategy enters its second year. The UK Innovation Report 2026 found that, while Britain remains a global leader in scientific output, this strength has not translated into sustained industrial competitiveness.
Closing this gap depends on cross-sector collaboration across life sciences, giving the country’s technical workforce a route to meet the challenges facing the lab and engineering industries.
The partnership proved fruitful in opening new opportunities for visitors and exhibitors, with companies such as SciMed opting to showcase at both events. SciMed used both exhibitions to showcase innovative products across the lab and engineering industries. Scientific Laboratory Supplies, an equipment distributor, also unveiled its new stand, bringing leading scientific brands together in one place.
This collaboration highlights the growing number of sectors spanning multiple industries, such as chemical process engineering, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, that require solutions rooted in advanced materials, precision instrumentation, and rigorous testing environments. Engineers developing next-generation manufacturing processes rely on lab-grade data to validate and optimise their designs, while laboratory professionals benefit from the efficiency of automation, robotics, and digitalisation.
Hosting the three communities under one roof creates a natural meeting point for exchanging expertise and products that address shared challenges. Lab Innovations will host speakers covering themes such as biotech innovation, sustainability, compliance, and data quality that attendees can apply to their own sectors.
