The hybrid pipette eliminates the compromise between pipetting control and speed
Integra Biosciences has launched its new Switch hybrid pipette, designed to eliminate the compromise between pipetting control and speed, enabling scientists to transition between manual handling and electronic repeat dispensing with a single device.
Manual pipettes provide the control required for delicate tasks, such as supernatant removal, but commonly fall short in repetitive workflows like aliquoting.
Electronic pipettes are able to resolve this issue with programmable repeat dispensing functions, but typically involve complex set-up, shared usage and a less intuitive user experience. The Switch solves these problems by combining the feel of a manual pipette with the aliquoting speed and efficiency of an electric device, without affecting how users work. The Switch hybrid pipette can be used either manually or in a repeat dispense mode for electronic aliquoting.
The hybrid pipette has a thumb-operated plunger that remains the same height across all volume settings, and lowers in repeat dispense mode for button-like operation. A set ring enables one-handed volume adjustments, and a display shows the volume aspirated in real-time. It also features Griptips pipette tips for secure loading and ejections.
