The technology limits environmental impact and saves time in the laboratory.
Horiba, Japanese manufacturer of precision instruments, has recently released the Veloci BioPharma Analyser, a spectroscopy solution for pharma and biopharma industries.
The A-TEEM spectroscopy solution can simultaneously acquire absorbance, transmittance and a fluorescence Excitation Emission Matrix (A-TEEM) of a sample.
“The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly using fluorescence spectroscopy, and more specifically, A-TEEM for QA/QC and as a process analytical technology for manufacturing control,” said Horiba life science business vice president Andrew Whitely.
“A-TEEM provides similar information to mass spectrometry and chromatography, but faster and easier.”
Combining the selectivity of chromatography with optical spectroscopy, the technology eliminates the need for column-based separations in component analysis. It also provides superior sensitivity when compared to traditional methods such as HPLC/mass spectrometry (MS) and Raman spectroscopy.
The analyser requires no sample preparation of solvent use and accelerates workflows. With analysis times as short as three minutes per sample, the analyser saves time and limits environmental impact when compared to traditional methods such as UPLC, which takes 30 minutes.
“The Veloci Biopharma Analyser is a significant advancement of our core A-TEEM spectroscopy product line by offering easy workflows and multivariate analysis, new open platform communications, unified architecture, process analytical technology interface and full compliance solutions,” said Horiba global product line manager for fluorescence products Cary Davies.
The Veloci BioPharma Analyser is suitable for a variety of applications, including monoclonal antibody discrimination, cell media monitoring, vaccine characterization, protein stability analysis, and adeno-associated virus (AAV) quantification.
