Detection of host cell proteins is vital to ensure patient safety and minimise potential immunological complications
Life sciences company Gyros Protein Technologies has launched two new kits enabling the detection of host cell proteins (HCP) in biotherapeutics expressed in human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells.
The Gyrolab HEK293 HCP Type SN Kit Reagents and Gyrolab HEK293 HCP Type CL Kit Reagents were developed with antibodies from custom antibody and immunoassay service provider BioGenes.
“Our ready-to-use kits provide a rapid, reliable and sensitive solution for customers working to develop vital new biotherapeutics,” said Gyros Protein Technologies general manager, Biopharmaceutical Development Division Mark Vossenaar.
BioGenes’ 360-HCP antibodies provide the broadest possible antigen coverage. As HCP can cause immune responses in patients, this offers a solution to ensure patient safety and minimise potential immunological complications.
“We are excited that the HEK293/360 ELISA kits are now optimized for use with Gyrolab technology,” said Biogenes’ CEO Dr Alexander Knoll.
“Together, we are enabling orthogonal methods for drug development, increasing chances for successful market authorization whilst also improving drug efficacy, and thus patient safety.”
