Evident launches two spinning disk confocal microscopes

Both microscopes are built on the company’s automated inverted microscope system.

Life science product company Evident has released two spinning disk confocal microscopes, the IXplore IX85 SpinXL and the IXplore IX85 SpinSR.

Built on our stable IXplore IX85 platform and powered by advanced spinning disk technologies, the new SpinXL and SpinSR microscopes are designed to provide our customers with faster imaging that is extremely precise and gentle on live cells,” said Evident vice president, product management and marketing, life science research Motoki Inoue.

The IXplore IX85 SpinXL is powered by CrestOptics X-Light spinning disk technology. It offers a 26.5mm field number that enables users to quickly capture cellular dynamics and rapidly screen large areas.

“This wider view enables the capture of more cellular dynamics in a single frame, supporting faster data acquisition,” said Inoue.

The XL’s fast frame rate and dual camera capabilities allow for the capture of more cellular dynamics in a single frame at up to 498fps at full frame.

Sample damage is minimised through a real-time controller that delivers coordinated imaging even at high speeds. Precise imaging is also enhanced through NIR wavelengths offering deeper tissue penetration and reduced autofluorescence.

The XL’s system features a wide wavelength range, tailored disk options and expandable imaging modalities.

Meanwhile, the IXplore IX85 SpinSR super-resolution microscope allows users to capture ultra-small cellular dynamics in detail.

The SR is designed for prolonged cell viability in time-lapse experiments, combining fast image acquisition, advanced algorithms and XY resolution down to 120nm to accelerate 3D super-resolution imaging.

The new IX85 SpinSR microscope introduces the TruSight SR algorithm for stunning super-resolution detail at speed—critical for customers who need to observe ultra-small cellular dynamics,” said Inoue.

The SR automatically optimises the image processing filter based on the signal-to-noise ratio to support processing for live-cell imaging even in dim fluorescence conditions.

Both microscopes are built on Evident’s IXplore IX85 automated inverted microscope system.
