The all-plastic cupboard is designed to withstand challenging environments
Laboratory fume specialist Clean Air will debut its latest fume cupboard, the PPX Polypropylene Fume Cupboard, at Lab Innovations 2024.
Made from primarily corrosion-resistant copolymer polypropylene, the PPX is designed to tolerate demanding laboratory environments. It is useful for applications using organic solvents and most acids and bases.
“The PPX was developed in direct response to client feedback and industry demand for a new, chemical-resistant fume cupboard,” says Dr Andy Manning, Clean Air’s R&D Manager. “Using advanced CFD, we’ve optimised the PPX’s containment by 70% and tested it to the stringent standards of BS EN 14175-3.”
Polypropylene vented storage cabinet allows for safe storage below the chamber, while the durable frame provides a stable structure without rocking.
The all-plastic cupboard was designed, tested and optimised for enhanced operator using Computational Fluid. The only metal in this cupboard in securely isolated parts of the electrical system.
“We’ve achieved this without using the damaging greenhouse gas SF6, a standard testing gas in the fume cupboard industry. We’re using disruptive technology to deliver a safer fume cupboard, without destroying the planet.”
