This method monitors tumour development to support patient-derived xenograft studies
Biotechnology company Amsbio has launched MatriMix, an extracellular matrix (ECM) hydrogel to support patient-derived xenograft (PDX) studies.
MatriMix is a ready-to-use 3D culture substrate product facilitating cell organisation and replication.
The aim is to use a patient’s tumour tissue to create a growing tumour that retains the histological and genetic characteristics of the patient’s original tumour.
This offers a platform for studying cancer biology and drug responses, and development new treatments.
The hydrogel is made of collagen type I, hyaluronic acid and laminin-511 E8 fragments, allowing it to culture even difficult-to-grow cancer types as xenograft.
MatriMix is supplied in a frozen vial and transitions to a clear gel once warmed. This encourages real-time monitoring of tumour growth, invasion and drug response assays.
