The tool expands real-time metabolic analysis into 3D tissue and organoid workflows
Laboratory instrument manufacturer Agilent Technologies has released the high-performance 24-well Seahorse XF Flex Analyser, designed to expand real-time metabolic analysis into optimised 3D tissue and organoid workflows.
"Surpassing conventional methods, this innovative solution provides richer insight into metabolic functions in living cells with precise, real-time bioenergetic measurements, enabling researchers to uncover disease mechanisms and open novel therapeutic avenues,” said Agilent vice president of marketing and cellular and biomolecular analysis Chris Braun.
Metabolism is a critical process for cellular functions. It drives energy production and essential processes such as biosynthesis, adaptation, redox balance, mitochondrial function, and cell fate decisions.
The workflow includes several key components to enhance real-time metabolic analysis, including the Seahorse XF Flex 3D Capture Microplate, which helps to capture 3D tissue samples. The Seahorse XF 3D Mito Stress Test Kit measures mitochondrial function in these models.
The workflow also incorporates a precision-cut vibratome, which enables the creation of consistent and smooth tissue sections, crucial for accurate metabolic analysis.
By enabling real-time metabolic analysis in 3D models, the Seahorse XF Flex Analyser supports biomedical research and preclinical therapeutic development.
