Sample storage freezers launched by Thermo Fisher

The series’ cooling technology adjusts to laboratory conditions to optimise cooling capacity.

Biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific has released its TSX Core Series ULT freezers designed to store samples for applications such as biotechnology research and drug discovery.

There is a growing demand for more accessible, energy-efficient ULT storage that meets the needs of modern research without sacrificing sample integrity and freezer performance,” said Thermo Fisher Scientific VP and GM, Controlled Temperature Technologies Dennis Howe.

“The TSX Core Series ULT freezers are designed to help labs meet their goals to reduce costs without compromising quality and compliance standards by combining reliable temperature control, robust durability and user-centric features.

The series offers a temperature range of -50°C to -86°C and feature V-drive cooling technology.

V-drive cooling technology adjusts to real-world laboratory conditions, such as the frequent opening of doors, to maintain optimal cooling capacity while maximising energy efficiency.

The dynamic nature of V-drive cooling technology differs standard compressors, which operate in a binary mode offering full power or nothing.

Suitable for a range of laboratory environments, the freezers include universal voltage compatibility (100-230V, 50/60Hz) and customisable configurations to adapt to various needs such as academic research, drug development, and biotechnology applications.

A touch screen user interface allows easy access to features such as temperature warnings, calibration offset, system health indicators and passcode protection. Built-in USB and communication ports facilitate compliance and monitoring needs.

The TSX Core Series comes in four different sizes to accommodate different laboratories and needs: 19.3cu ft, 24.1cu ft, 28.8cu ft and 33.6cu ft.

Already available in North American and Latin America, the series is due to become available on 1st April in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Last month, Thermo Fisher Scientific revealed its Orion Pro Star Electrochemistry Bench Meter series for electrochemistry analysis in clinical laboratory testing.
