New disinfectant claims

Steris has announced the addition of disinfection and virucidal activity claims in the United States for CIP 200 Acid-Based Cleaner and Disinfectant. The new label claims are the result of extensive testing and development.

CIP 200 Acid-Based Cleaner and Disinfectant has received the following biocidal claims on washable, hard, nonporous surfaces in the presence of 5% organic soil (serum) when used at a 1% concentration of product:

  • Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) in 10 minutes at or above 60°C.
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 15442) in 10 minutes at or above 60°C.

Additionally, CIP 200 Acid-Based Cleaner and Disinfectant is effective against Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) when used at a 1% concentration of product per gallon of deionised water in 5% blood serum at 60°C for a contact time of 10 minutes.

For US-based customers currently using CIP 200 Acid-Based Process and Research Cleaner, the transition to CIP 200 Acid-Based Cleaner and Disinfectant does not impact the formulation of the product and will not require requalification or revalidation.
