Augmented microscopy platform demonstrated

Jenoptik has announced that it has developed an innovative technology to bring AI to conventional microscopy through overlay of digital content directly into a commercial-off-the-shelf microscope's field of view, in collaboration with Google researchers. Google has demonstrated modelling for tumour detection in histopathology slides for both prostate cancer and lymph nodes from breast cancer using the platform and presented its results at the Annual meeting for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in April of 2018.

Jenoptik designed and integrated the opto-mechanical technology at its Florida, USA location, which was made possible by leveraging its systems engineering experience, optical R&D capabilities, and portfolio of IP across a breadth of innovative applications and industries.

Jay Kumler, President of Jenoptik Optical Systems in North America, commented, "Our work with Google demonstrates our continued commitment to meeting our customers’ expectations of advancing innovations in different technologies.”
