HPLC sample preparation

One of the essential steps in sample preparation prior to injection for HPLC is filtration of the sample. Filtering the sample through a syringe filter with a 0.45µm microporous membrane filter will remove particulates that can cause premature instrument failure.

Sample filtration helps to protect the various components of an HPLC system, simplifies instrument maintenance, and prolongs the life of the instrument as well as expensive analytical columns.

The accuracy and reproducibility of results are improved, since the injection port and instrument are protected by filtering.

Regenerated cellulose (RC) is a hydrophilic membrane that is highly resistant to all HPLC solvents and exhibits very low extractables when challenged with, for example, Acetonitrile or methanol, and is the among lowest protein binding membrane available.

The high flow rate and solvent compatability of RC membranes make them suitable for the filtration and clarification of HPLC solvents.

RC membranes 0.2µm and 0.45µm are integrated in ready-to-use-filter holder Spartan. Because of easy handling, reproducible filtration performance and short working times, ready-to-use-filter holders are the filters of choice for sample preparation.

Spartan is suitable for the filtration of aqueous and organic solvents. It is an universal filter holder, one filter holder for nearly all types of samples. It also makes commercial sense to use only one versatile type of filter holder. These versatile filter holders are available in sizes with 13 and 30mm diameter.
