Parallel filtration simple and efficient

Filtration is a very often used process in chemical synthesis. It is often a time consuming step and always linked to material loss.

To solve those problems, Büchi has developed a parallel Filtration and Collecting unit. It can be used together with the parallel synthesiser Syncore or as a stand alone equipment.

The filtration unit allows up to 24 filtrations to be carried out simultaneously. The filtrate can either be collected into a suitable large receiving vessel or into individual test tubes. The arrangement of the lines ensures that possibility of cross-contamination is eliminated whilst allowing the entire filtration process to be closely monitored. Following the filtration step, all the reaction vessels can be filled simultaneously with wash solvent without the need to open the system.

The filtration and wash stages may be repeated as many times as required, and can even be carried out under an inert gas environment. All working steps can be carried out while shaking and without cooling down the sample rack, so that rapid and safe filtration is guaranteed for both cold and hot reaction solutions.

The filters can be raised out the reaction solution during the synthesis process and then re-immersed just for the filtration stage.

The filter frits used for this purpose can be easily replaced and are available in various pore sizes. u
