Monitor can be located 250 metres from base station

The MLS2000, from Monitherm Ltd, is based around an industrial PC with a current maximum of 128 radio transmitter sensors which can be located up to 250 metres from the base station.

Sensors are available for monitoring temperature (range -120oC to 400oC), humidity, light levels, CO2 and O2 with constant monitoring and reporting-back at two minute intervals.

Since the system is wire-free with the sensors housed in surface-mounted holsters, it is competitively priced, easily retro-fitted, can be expanded extremely quickly and portable if the equipment being monitored has to be relocated.

Information from the sensors is permanently stored within the base-station's hard disk, protected by a two-hour UPS system, can be displayed graphically or as text anddown-loaded direct to other computersor via floppy disks.

One of the UK's top transplant centres, the Harefield Hospital, Middlesex, has just taken delivery of a 17 sensor temperature monitoring system at the Transplant Immunology department in its pioneering Heart Science Centre.

While the installation of a new system for leading contract pharmaceutical testing company, West Pharmaceutical Services of Nottingham is due to be completed at the end of 2001. This system features a total of 34 standard temperature sensors, accurate to ±0.5oC, six PT100 sensors, accurate to ±0.1oC,and a differential room pressure sensor for the company's aclean room'. u
