Automation accelerates development

Following the introduction of the first fully automated parallel synthesiser in 1988, Zinsser Analytic has continued to aid to the success of the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical industries by accelerating the development time required for new products and hence their ultimate introduction into the market place.

Using a wealth of experience gained over 40 years by its in house team of hardware and software engineers, continued development has resulted in the implementation of functional and innovative workstations that have been installed in these industry sectors worldwide to facilitate R & D:

Requirement:  Solution:
Compound Synthesis Batch and flow chemistry systems
Compound Extraction & Purification     Filtration, SPE, LLE
Formulation Development               Liquid handling, viscous material handling and solid handling

Pre-formulation Screening             Solubility, dissolution, polymorph screening, salt screening, degradation testing

Sample Management           Vial taring, capping and decapping with weighing

Production of assay plates/vials following selection and dissolution of compounds from library stores
Sample Preparation                 nl – ml dispensing, mixing, heating, cooling
Pelletising, grinding and sieving of products
Image control for workflow feedback
On line analysis – GC, LC, photometers, densitometers, viscometers, colorimeters etc

Several hundred systems have been installed worldwide and, of those a very high percentage are customised workstations that have been developed to a specific customer requirement using a modular concept during the overall design. Zinsser Analytic manufactures and supplies four robotic platforms of different dimensions and x, y, z mechanics onto which modules can be integrated and controlled.

There are more than 200 operation modules available - most of these modules have been designed, engineered and manufactured in house allowing Zinsser Analytic to respond and react quickly to any customer’s needs. All supplied systems are controlled by the company’s proprietary software which continues to evolve for ease of customer use and functionality.
