Primerdesign launches DNA and RNA extraction kit

The magnetic bead-based kit enables efficient nucleic acid purification

PCR kits and reagents designer Primerdesign (part of Novacyt group) has launched its exsig Mag RapidBead Pro Extraction kit, which can extract high-quality DNA and RNA from diverse sample types.

The magnetic bead-based kit enables efficient nucleic acid purification to help researchers move faster from sample to PCR testing.

“The kit sets a new standard for DNA or RNA purification, combining the proven precision and reliability of the exsig Mag Kit with the speed of a next-generation rapid extraction workflow,” said Lyn Rees, Novacyt CEO. “It is a cost-efficient, end-to-end solution that delivers superior performance, reduces lab time, and delivers greater flexibility, to help researchers accelerate molecular discovery and pathogen testing from sample to results.”

Magnetic particles are surface activated and designed to capture nucleic acids with high affinity. Combined with a single wash step, they support the removal of impurities present in the sample matrix. The nucleic acid is then eluted and ready to use in downstream real-time PCR applications.

The exsig Mag RapidBead Pro Extraction kit reduces workflow time to no more than 20 minutes while also lowering the risk of contamination. Traditional methods require more hands-on time and opportunities for contamination.

Various matrices can be used with the kit, including human samples, water, food and environmental material. It is also suitable for challenging sample types such as stool and serum, and isolates genetic material from RNA viruses and Gram-positive and -negative bacteria.

The kit is available in two sizes and is compatible with Primerdesign’s genesig qPCR kit range.
