Grant to accelerate materials inspection projects launched

As a leading provider of advanced materials science microscope systems, Olympus is inviting investigators to apply for the recently launched Opto-Digital Technology Grant in association with Quality Manufacturing Today magazine.

Successful entrants will receive a grant from Olympus in the form of an intuitive opto-digital microscope system loaned free-of-charge for up to six months including free installation, training and technical support.

The grant is open to any investigative group wanting to capitalise on the advanced capabilities of the opto-digital range of microscopes for precision metrology and inspection in materials science. To apply, applicants need only fill out a simple form with a short proposal of their precision engineering or materials science inspection project and their system of choice.

The range of Olympus microscopes available includes the LEXT OLS4100 3D laser scanning microscope for surface inspection and the opto-digital DSX 500 and DSX 500i microscopes for a variety of measurement tasks.

Applications will be assessed by a panel of judges including Dr Harald Bosse, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Germany, Prof Guido Tosello, Technical University of Denmark, and Markus Fabich, Metrology Application Specialist, Olympus. Winners will be notified by 30th September 2014.
